Chick-Fil-A Salad Container DIY #ChickfilamomDIY

Up cycling is a great way to teach your family how to reuse items without sending them to the trash. It is a valuable lesson for kids and adults need to learn in life. I belong to a phenomenal group of women, Chick-Fil-A Moms. Chick-Fil-A challenged us to try the new Southwest salad and up cycle the container. Normally, I am the first one to reuse this container for food for work or travel but I wanted to do something that matched the season and involved the whole family. Even dads get involved for this project.

Every spring, we look forward to feeding the birds. Watching the birds trying to eat in the spring shower helped me decide this was perfect. This is a project that allows the family to go to the home improvement store and work with tools.

Here is a step by step tutorial:

Materials needed:

  1. Chick-Fil-A Salad container Empty and clean of course
  2. “I” Bolt I choose the one with a full circle on the top and a hook on the bottom. This allows me to hang another container project underneath for a bird bath.
  3. Nuts and washers for the feeder. This is a great way to allow children to thread nuts and washers.
  4. Sharpie
  5. Cutting tool
    Starting materials
    I Bolt disassembled
Trace I Bolt outline on top & bottom containers
Place “I” Bolt middle between the clear and the black kids

Line I Bolt to bottom of container
Place washer to secure. You may want to use multiple.

Here is the end result; a Up cycled bird feeder with a cover:
